Books: The reporter’s handbook
February 2, 2009 |
For investigative bloggers this is an essential guide. It explains the methods and the pitfalls of investigating various government agencies, from federal to local, with ideas about the kinds of stories a journalist can look for. There are also examples that explain how reporters have previously cracked big stories.
If you want to take a look at the book, you can find it on Google books, with a limited preview. (If you want to read the whole book, you have to buy it.)
The book is produced by Investigative Reporters and Editors, an organization you can find on our resources page.
I had some trouble buying used copies online, because they often turn out to be already sold when you place the order. I went into my local Borders store, paid their price for ording a used copy, and they called me when the book arrived, a week or two later.
