Michigan Messenger sued for defamation over foreclosure flap

The Associated Press reports this morning that Macomb County Republican Party Chairman James Carabelli filed suit against the Michigan Messenger, reporter Eartha Jane Melzer, and others, alleging defamation.
The Messenger has repeatedly said it will stand by its story: On Sept. 10 it quoted Carabelli saying that voters registered at foreclosed addresses would not be allowed to vote. Carabelli and the GOP insist that the comments were never made and have called the story a fabrication.
